"Tomahawks are the opposite of crossing bridges, you don’t look up"

Named after the Tomahawk missle, a mythical terror weapon from planet Earth, this spacecraft/aircraft is designed to strike deep into enemy territory at high speeds. The design features an advanced convertible thrust system for operating efficiently in atmospheric conditions while maintaining deep space flight capabilities. At nearly three times larger than the Valkyrie frigate, huge bomb bays carry several hundred tons of air-to-ground munitions while advanced air intake systems feed and cool the craft's three huge Stratothrust engines; effectively propelling the enormous bomber at close to the speed of sound.

In space, the Stratothrust engines' intake fans close off and become deep space Ion Rockets. The craft's revolutionary propulsion system makes it the most fuel-efficient strike flyer in the Terran arsenal, in stark contrast to others like the CF-17 Wraith or the Valkyrie Frigate which use the same fuel for both atmospheric and deep-space flight.

The Terran Confederacy sought a method to strengthen their most deadly force: The Omega Squadron. They therefore lounged for a new air strike ship that could deal heavy damage to the enemies of the confederacy.

Trying to develop this new strike ship the Confederacy first designed the Tomahawk as a warship that propelled highly explosive bombs to enemy fleets. They hoped to first strengthen The Omega Squadron then manufacture more to sell to other Terrans thereby accumulating more wealth. This however, wasn’t a large success not just within in the confederacy but also within other Terran factions: the bombs that the Confederate Tomahawks propelled did not fly far distances and had very little range.

Additionally, if the bomb failed to hit its target the bomb ended up creating a minor explosion on any units under them. This did not achieve the Confederacy’s aims for the Tomahawk and it was rendered useless when among fleets in space. While several Terrans bought the designed they were discarded in favour of the more effective UED Valkyries.
When the Baron Council’s hackers, searching for new ideas, exploited the archives, the old designs intrigued them and were brought to the scientists of the Baron Council.

The Baron Council has thus modified the Tomahawk to provide maximum efficiency. They discovered that the bombs that the Tomahawk propelled could be more effective if they were dropped right below the target and with some modifications to the bomb itself it is designed to create maximum devastation. Now it is viewed as a lethal air-to-ground fighter rather than an air-to-air combatant.
The Tomahawk, thus modified by the Baron Council, has joined the Siege Tank and the Nuclear Missile as the deadliest and most feared weapons in the Terran arsenal. Heavily armored in carbon lattice-reinforced Neosteel, the Tomahawk still maintains enough maneuverability to fly strafing missions over large groups of enemy soldiers and support rapid forward deployments. It is armed with UH-42 Hellrain Bombshells, tactical nuclear weapons capable of devastating swathes of ground fifteen metres in diameter.
